Srinagar, Jul 09 (KNO): Amid the soaring heat and solemn Muharram observances, the youth across various parts of Srinagar have united to distribute water to the passerby in their localities.
With temperatures reaching sweltering levels, this initiative was particularly notable in areas including Lal Chowk, Khoja Bazar, Fateh Kadal, Gow Kadal and Khanyar where young volunteers provided much-needed relief to locals.
According to details gathered by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the youth recognized the needs of those participating in Muharram observances and took the initiative to ensure water was readily available at key locations.
Speaking to KNO, one of the volunteers, Ubaid Ahmad, emphasized the importance of their efforts. “Providing water is a small act of kindness, but it means a lot to those who are fasting or taking part in the processions under the scorching heat,” he said adding that “it is our way of paying tribute to the spirit of Muharram, which teaches us about sacrifice and service to humanity.”
Pertinently, the local residents appreciated the gesture, noting that such acts of community service embody the true essence of the holy month and provide essential relief in the face of intense heat.
Notably, Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, holds significant religious importance—(KNO)
